Stompin' Tom... More canuck than maple sirup.
All shown were from the west. Here in NY law said ours required fenders. I’m 83 now & wish I could go back to visit.
I never knew that George Jones was a United States Marine. Good stuff.
Thank you for your service
Love this song was one of my granddaddy’s favourites. He was a New Zealand cowboy and horse whisper who knew every bird call and would copy them and sing his western music while working God how I miss him . And thankful to God for having him as my Pop
My condolences to you. I am glad to help his memory live on with my upload.
Thanks for doing Kentucky song dc

Good old Stompin' Tom.

Truth
In my humble but biased opinion, there is no purer song writer than Tom. Always clear and on the mark.
I would love to find an article for this song. I wasn’t around when this song was new and Im interested to know the references and jokes I didn’t pick up on because of not living at that time.
Sad part is this song still holds true in the 2020s more so then back then
What a beautiful tribute song to Terry Fox. This is the first time I heard this song

How do you like it now? July 2021. He is singing of the good old days.

The best Canadian Musician. Shame on radio stations in this country, for not playing music enough.
i l.ove this song my grandparents had this on 33 rpm record and casette
the hope slide too. BC best
Love ya Tom and much respect. But there are a lot of errors in this song. Like a lot!
This is how Canadian history should be taught.
Came across this through the comment section of Wild Side of Life by Status Quo! Similar sound! Great!
I love Stopping Tom's songs. A honest mistake. But at 1:47 he's said "sealed the mine like a tomb, on the 23 of April on that dark day of doom.
April 22 was about a week before the disaster... Not when the disaster happened.... Tom is referring to the warning that they received from the old Native man... But Tom did get a few things not entirely right... The disaster happened April 29 1903 at 4:10 AM... In about 90 seconds...
Been there once quite some time ago too. But if I'm not mistaken they even say that a First Nations in this case Cree tried to warn them.
Are Cherokee even Indians...
Yes they are Native Americans.
Long Live Rock And Roll!
❤️❤️❤️
So many people drive highway 3 from Lethbridge to Cranbrook everyday right through Frank and don't even think of the people that died. It is like the ones that drive the second narrows and can't remember the ones that died there. Tom did so thanks Tom.

Sacred Canadiana. I still get chills when I hear this. Thanx Tom.

Shame on Canadian radio broadcasters, not giving him the recognition he deserved. One of the greatest Canadian Entertainer.
good grief get a grip on dissing this song because the dates are off? it's about a real tragedy and my friend larry ewashen wrote the poem and tom made it into a song. larry's stage name then was larry west. the fekking mountain came down you idiots.
